Music

Here at SIS, we pride ourselves on fostering a welcoming community for music education. As part of our general music curriculum, students will learn how to read and write music notation, how to play and speak various rhythms, sing simple melodies while performing basic beat keeping movements, in addition to learning to play the ukulele along with other classroom percussion instruments.
In addition to these general music items, students will also have various performance opportunities. Starting in Grade Four, students can sign up for choir. Each grade level choir performs both a winter and a spring concert. Beyond chorus, students will have the opportunity to learn to also play a band instrument starting in Grade five. Grade Five Band puts on a spring concert, while the Grade six band puts on both a winter and a spring concert.
Beyond these performances, we also have additional extracurricular performance ensembles. We have our Chirping Cardinals, which is our specialty extracurricular choir that performs for school and community events. Your future star performer could also seek the limelight with our drama club in our annual SIS spring musical!
